more from John - Day 9 of 20

Read 1 John 3:4-10.

“No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God.” (1 John 3:9 ESV)

Verses 4-10 is a big paragraph. In this single paragraph is much repetition. Rephrased in different ways John over and over again revealed the implications on the practice of sinning and the practice of obedience. Why do you believe this is?

What are you practicing?

Over a week ago we read from 1 John 1:8 (ESV), “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” So this side of heaven, we will sin, but how is this different than making a practice of sinning?

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:9 ESV)

What practice of sin needs to be confessed today?

Remember who you are as God's child.
Remember the grace, mercy and love given to you through Jesus Christ.

What circle of sin needs to be broken so that you may move forward in gratefulness and obedience?
