“Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” (1 John 5:21 ESV)
John reminded us to pray for renewed life from God for our brother or sister in Christ who is walking that tightrope of intentional sin.
John reminded us that if we are born of God, we do not live a life of intentional sinning. That's not our identity in Christ. Intentional sinning is the way of the world, not of God.
John reminded us that as we are in Christ we live in the Truth. Looking upon the Truth, John warned us to not get caught up in the world, walk away from God and follow a life that worships things/people/false gods/idols contrary to our True God. The consequences of such activity is disastrous—only leading to death.
