more from John - Day 12 of 20

Read 1 John 4:1-6.

“...every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God.” (1 John 4:2b-3a ESV)

Review verses 1-6 (link above) and count how many times the word “from” is used. What is John differentiating in his repetitious use of “from”?

How does this help you better understand where you are from? How does it help you better understand where those in your life, your community, are from?

What are the personal implications in knowing where you and those around you are from?

If you are from God and confess the truth of Jesus Christ, “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10 ESV), in a gracious and loving way, how may those around you better learn where you are from, so that the Word and Spirit would transform their "from”?
