Read Proverbs 8.

“Hear instruction and be wise, and do not neglect it.” (Proverbs 8:33 ESV)

To hear instruction so that we may be wise. What does that look like?

First, what are the stumbling blocks that keep one from hearing instruction?

• Pride 
• Self-righteousness 
• A narcissistic “my way or the highway” attitude

Second, what are the things that help one hear instruction?

• Humility 
• Patience to actually listen 
• A respect-for-others attitude

How may you pray to God today regarding wisdom? What things in your life would you like God to remove which keep you from hearing instruction so as to be wise? What attitudes, attributes, and posture do you need from God so as to better hear instruction, especially the instruction that comes from the Word of God?
